The agreement was signed in Guangzhou at the 2026 China-Thailand Business Innovation Forum, which brought together leading enterprises and industry experts from the retail, cultural tourism, and commercial operations sectors of both countries. The participants discussed the transformation paths for physical commerce and promoted bilateral business cooperation, ranging from the trade of goods to business model sharing and ecosystem building.
As a key part of the 2026 Guangzhou International Shopping Festival, which kicked off on Sept 23, the conference set the stage for the city-wide consumer event. Tianhe district, a hub of business innovation and international consumption, attracts an average daily footfall of 1.5 million, making it a prime location for Sino-Thai commercial integration.
Voralak Tulaphorn, chief marketing officer of The Mall Group, highlighted the shift from "selling products" to "selling experiences" in Thailand's retail sector. The group plans to open two new centers, including the highly anticipated BANGKOK MALL, which she said is poised to become a new growth engine.
