Guangzhou to host 2026 International Vertical Marathon at Tianhe's landmark skyscraper

The 2026 International Vertical Marathon Guangzhou Yingkai Square Station will take place at Yingkai Square in Tianhe district of Guangzhou, a significant landmark in the history of vertical marathons in China.

Since its debut in 2015, this race has become a favorite among stair climbing enthusiasts. Participants will tackle a 220-meter ascent, culminating on the 52nd floor after conquering 1,390 steps, testing their physical endurance, strategy, and mental resilience.

The elite category is offering enhanced rewards, with cash prizes for the top five male and female finishers. A new prize pool of 5,000 yuan ($735) will be evenly split among qualifying participants in the open category, ensuring everyone has a chance to win. The event is part of the AVA annual ranking, offering completion points and contributing to a season prize pool of 7,840 yuan.

Registration is open until July 27, with equipment collection scheduled for Aug 6 and 7. The race will commence at 8:30 am at Yingkai Square, accommodating 500 participants, including 30 racers in the elite category and 470 in the open category.
