Intuitive Fosun, a joint venture between Shanghai Fosun Pharmaceutical and US-based Intuitive Surgical — the global leader in robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery — has been established in Tianhe, Guangzhou.

This marks a significant step in advancing its localization strategy on the Chinese mainland and establishes its headquarters for the Guangdong-Hong-Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

"The establishment of the Greater Bay Area headquarters is another important step in Intuitive Fosun's long-term commitment to the Chinese market," said Liu Fujun, the company's CEO. He added that the Greater Bay Area, with its leading medical resources, collaborative innovation ecosystem, and growing digital capabilities, provides a unique environment for medical technology innovation.

As one of the core cities in the Greater Bay Area, Guangzhou remains a national hub, fostering a robust industrial ecosystem for biomedicine, medical devices, and artificial intelligence.

Tianhe district, which is the core functional area of Guangzhou, has high-level medical resources and a strong foundation in the digital industry. This alignment complements Intuitive Fosun's approach to advancing minimally invasive surgery through digital innovation.

Liu expressed optimism that the advantages of the Greater Bay Area will facilitate the introduction of advanced global medical technologies into China and the exploration of artificial intelligence applications in minimally invasive diagnostics.
