Liede neighborhood enhances medical services for expats
A health lecture and free clinic for foreigners was held at the Zhujiang New Town Clinic of Foresea Life Insurance Guangzhou General Hospital in Tianhe, offering bilingual medical services such as traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) consultations.
The event, organized by the Guangzhou International Cooperation Center (GICC), Liede International Neighborhood, and the Canton Place International Community, is part of efforts of the city to enhance medical services for expatriates.
The Liede International Neighborhood, located in Tianhe, spans 3.2 square kilometers and is home to 29 consulates and over 7,000 foreigners, who make up 10 percent of the permanent population in the area.
Elizabeth Ann Jones, Head of the ISA Tianhe International School of Guangzhou, praised the city's medical care. "I've been to the public hospitals here. They are incredibly efficient and organized. The doctor spoke fluent English and was very kind," she said.
In April, the Guangzhou International Medical Tourism Service Center was launched. Working with 17 pilot international medical service hospitals across the city, the center aims to build a one-stop platform integrating medical treatment, wellness services, and tourism, and provide end-to-end services for overseas patients during their stay in Guangzhou.
