Tianhe sees vibrant holiday economy

During the May Day holiday, Tianhe showcased its dynamic holiday economy through innovative scenes and new business formats and models.

Over the five days, Tianhe welcomed more than 3.1 million visitors, up 10.7 percent year-on-year, generating revenue of 3.02 billion yuan ($444.64 million) in cultural and tourism consumption, an increase of 8.2 percent from the same period in the previous year.

From May 1 to 5, the 2026 Guangzhou Coffee Culture Fair was held at the South Plaza of Tianhe Sports Center. The event spanned 20,000 square meters, featuring over 230 coffee brands from 43 cities across 13 countries and regions, offering a global coffee experience.

Tianhe's urban commercial hubs were transformed into immersive experience parks, breaking traditional consumption boundaries. The Tianhe Road business community attracted over 10 million visitors, a 17.8 percent increase from 2025, highlighting its robust vitality.

The local IP Dawan Chicken, the mascot of the 15th National Games, led holiday trends with its "graduation season" theme at the Olympic Carnival, engaging fans with creative, interactive activities.

Cultural venues like Guangdong Museum thrived, with the museum alone hosting over 14,000 visitors daily. Guangdong Digital Culture Valley debuted "Luban Fantasy Park", a mechanical interactive adventure blending Lingnan culture with educational games, making it a popular family destination.
