Tianhe's May Day holiday foot traffic hits 11.01 million
Tianhe's consumer market ran with activity and without chaos during the May Day holiday from May 1 to 5, as supply met strong demand.
Initiatives such as trade-in promotions and the Guangdong Premium Shopping campaign generated over 100 million yuan ($14.6 million) in spending. The Tianhe ticket stub economy initiative, which offers discounts via event tickets, engaged nearly 300 merchants, while the smart tourism service platform Mobile Phone Tour of Tianhe attracted nearly 6,000 visits.
The Tianhe Road shopping community reported cumulative foot traffic of 11.01 million over the five-day holiday, an 18 percent year-on-year increase, with sales reaching approximately 450 million yuan ($66.21 million), an uptick of 4 percent year on year. Major malls experienced steady growth in both foot traffic and sales, maintaining a bustling market atmosphere.

In Zhujiang New Town shopping area, consumer activity surged with events centered on sports, traditional Chinese culture, and Cantonese themes. Guangzhou International Financial Center shopping mall attracted over 210,000 visitors through activities like sports mascot parades and Cantonese pop concerts, boosting sales by 10 percent.

Meanwhile, Guangzhou International Financial City offered a variety of entertainment activities, drawing over 920,000 visitors. The R&B live shows, trendy parades, and e-sports parties at M・LIVE Tianhe were particularly popular.
