Guangtang Sci-Tech Innovation City pioneers in industry-city integration
The Guangtang Sci-Tech Innovation City in Tianhe is spearheading a transformative shift from "singular manufacturing" to "comprehensive symbiosis", establishing a model for industry-city integration.
Guangtang is emerging as a key hub for technology transfer, capitalizing on the intellectual strength of 26 universities, 186 research institutions and 57 academicians in the district. This effort aims to tackle the longstanding challenge of technology transfer into practical industrial applications.
The innovation city boasts six types of facilities designed to promote innovation, including shared laboratories and pilot platforms, which help reduce research and development barriers for enterprises. An example of this strategy is the groundbreaking of the XPeng humanoid robot production base, which utilizes advanced technology from South China University of Technology. This project enhances the city's role in facilitating collaboration between industry and academia.
With a strategic focus on scaling the humanoid robot industry for commercial purposes, the innovation city is building a "sci-tech + intelligent manufacturing" ecosystem. In addition to its strong industrial base, it also fosters a "soft environment" that attracts talent. The planned Guangzhou Talent Park and other resources offer a vibrant living experience that promotes work-life integration.
As Tianhe's high-quality development strategy advances, the industrial capacity, urban amenities, and quality of life in the Guangtang Sci-Tech Innovation City are set to improve, positioning it as a new benchmark for integrated urban development in Guangzhou.
