In 2025, Tianhe recorded a GDP of over 701 billion yuan ($102 billion), up 4.3 percent year-on-year, accounting for 21.9 percent of Guangzhou's total GDP and ranking first among the city's districts for the 19th consecutive year. Its domestic tax revenue reached 95.7 billion yuan, growing by 4.7 percent, the highest in the city.
Addressing the conference, Tan Minghe, the district's Party secretary, highlighted how 2026 marks the beginning of the 15th Five-Year Plan period. Tianhe aims to achieve GDP growth of over 5 percent in 2026 and increase fixed asset investment by more than 10 percent, targeting a billion-yuan investment surge to foster high-quality development, Tan said.
Tianhe will focus on expanding modern services, promoting the growth of strategic emerging industry clusters, and accelerating technological and industrial integration, according to speakers at the conference.
In 2026, Tianhe will concentrate its efforts on three major platforms: advancing the digital economy and finance to establish Guangzhou International Financial City as a new growth engine; promoting the "AI + Robotics" industry by accelerating the Guangtang Science and Technology Innovation City; and establishing the Guangdong Olympic Sports Cultural and Entertainment Demonstration Zone to drive the growth of the Olympic Sports City.
