The 33rd Guangzhou Fair took place at the China Import and Export Fair Complex on Aug 22-24, with nine major enterprises from the city's Tianhe district shining at the event with their cutting-edge AI technologies.

A major attraction at the fair was the 89-centimeter-tall robot "Xiao Hai" from High Torque Technology, which gained its fame at the 1st World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing for its charming appearance and stable gait. Headquartered in Tianhe, the company has achieved industry-leading stable mass production with its self-developed robotic technologies.

Xie Junjin, the company's marketing director, said that Tianhe's many universities and research institutes, along with a strong research atmosphere, provide an ideal "testing ground" for companies.

The district's diverse application scenarios and abundant talent pool of data algorithm engineers and robot software system developers offer low-cost, high-efficiency opportunities for innovation, Xie added.

Earlier this year, Tianhe district announced its commitment to building a modern industrial system, with strategic industrial clusters focusing on intelligent equipment and robotics, as well as AI development. It aims to reach an industrial scale of 50 billion yuan ($6.99 billion) by 2030.
