The opening ceremony of the 15th National Games is scheduled to take place at the Guangdong Olympic Sports Center in Tianhe district, Guangzhou, on Nov 9.

The event for the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympics Games will be held at Tianhe Sports Center on Dec 8.

Executive director Meng Ke states that the 90-minute event will showcase a variety of musical styles, including Cantonese Opera, Hong Kong pop, and folk songs, emphasizing well-known Cantonese melodies to connect with the audience.

The preparation has reached a crucial stage, with experts and creative teams from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao working together to ensure the ceremony combines international charm with Lingnan culture, Ming said.

Cutting-edge technologies such as AI and robotics will be used, while TV broadcasting effects will be optimized for better viewing.

About half of the core construction is finished, covering stage setup and lighting. Rehearsals started in July and will shift to the Guangdong Olympic Sports Center and Tianhe Sports Center in August.

Around 5,000 performers from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area have started rehearsals according to a carefully organized schedule that emphasizes both artistic quality and the well-being of performers.

Other aspects, such as music, costumes, and stage design, are progressing as planned. Meng described the stage design as "bringing the ocean into the stadium".

Composer Shu Nan and songwriter He Muyang are managing the musical arrangements, with most performance tracks finished and the theme song in progress. Costume designs incorporate innovative materials such as luminescent fabrics to produce striking visual effects.
