Foreign delegation from HK explores Guangzhou

A delegation comprising over 100 representatives from the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong, foreign consulates in Hong Kong, foreign chambers of commerce, multinational corporations, and the Hong Kong government, paid a visit to Guangzhou on June 4-5.

A promotional event was held on June 4 to showcase Guangzhou's achievements in high-quality development.

Over the past decade, Guangzhou has attracted over $130 billion in actual foreign investment. Last year, there were 59,000 new foreign-invested enterprises nationwide, with Guangzhou alone home to 8,445 of them.

The Tianhe and Nansha district governments each presented introductions to the visiting delegations, providing a comprehensive overview of their industrial policies and business environments.

"I first visited Guangzhou in 1985. Since then, every time I return, I'm amazed by its development," said FOO Kong Seng Jacky, the rotating chairman of the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

Jacky added that ideas for cooperation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area were exchanged during the visit, encouraging technology companies and the scientific community to explore collaborative opportunities in the region.

During their visit, the delegation inspected various locations in Guangzhou, including XAG, the Guangzhou Headquarters Experience Center of XPeng Motors, the Integrated Management Service Center of Guangzhou International Financial City, and XPeng AeroHT.

Brian Davidson, British consul general in Hong Kong, emphasized the significance of the delegation's trip for gaining insights into the developmental progress of the Greater Bay Area and seizing the opportunities presented by cities in the region.

Ye Haixing, chairman of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and Macao, highlighted the substantial potential for collaboration between Philippine and Chinese enterprises in high-tech industries and manufacturing, aiming to enhance industrial chain partnerships.

Additionally, Ye intends to arrange for more Philippine entrepreneurs to visit Guangzhou in the near future.
