Celebrating National Games: Youthful energy in GBA

A series of activities for young people from Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Macao to welcome the 2025 National Games was launched at the Haixinsha Asian Games Park in Tianhe district on May 24.

Three main routes, with the themes "Sci-tech Bay Area, Smart National Games", "Green Bay Area, Green National Games" and "Humanistic Bay Area, Dynamic National Games", were also announced during the launch event.

World badminton champion Guan Weizhen noted that the National Games have now been hosted in Guangzhou three times, with each occasion bringing about substantial transformations in the city.

She emphasized the vibrant atmosphere surrounding the current event, stating that people of all ages should embrace the National Games, engage in sports to improve their health and work to enhance their overall wellbeing.

That same day, attendees explored the Tianhe Sports Center and the Guangzhou Sports Culture Museum to discover the upgrades and renovations that have been carried out and took part in a sporting event for people of all ages.

Additionally, they toured the Greater Bay Area Street Dance Cultural Center to explore street dance culture and experience street dancing for the first time.

Hong Kong student He Wendao from the Guangzhou Zhongshan Whampoa School for Hong Kong and Macao Students said that the museum visit left a deep impression on him, giving him an appreciation for the difficulties and challenges involved in hosting such a prestigious sporting event.

He said, "I will apply what I have learned from this experience to my role as a bilingual reporter for National Games activities in the future."
