In preparation for the 15th National Games, which will be held in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions in November, Tianhe district in Guangzhou, South China's Guangdong province is undergoing a comprehensive city transformation to present a stunning urban image for the grand event, with focus on urban environmental governance, architectural aesthetic upgrade, and overall quality enhancement.

Since November 2023, Tianhe has been focusing on six major areas of governance: sanitation, urban order, construction site management, water environment, public facilities, and landscaping.

The district is focused on improving its urban environment by renovating signage and road facilities in key locations. This effort includes cleaning and refurbishing walls, optimizing road conditions, and enhancing building façades. The goal is to create a more organized, harmonious, and visually appealing urban image, particularly in the areas surrounding the Guangdong Olympic Sports Center and other sports venues.

The construction and quality enhancement work in these areas is being carried out in a classified manner. Ninety improvement projects are being implemented, with plans to complete them by the end of June.

The refined street area around the Olympic Sports Center is themed around the five-ring colors, complemented by unique plants, creating unified yet distinct service stations to enhance the image of urban public spaces.

The district also implements upgrades along high-speed roads, rail transit lines, park development, and urban village renovation projects. Efforts include clearing and upgrading structures and waste along these routes while enhancing greenery and supporting facilities.
