Tianhe CBD: A modern economic hub in Guangzhou

Tianhe Central Business District (CBD), one of the three national CBDs approved by the State Council alongside Beijing CBD and Shanghai Lujiazui CBD, stands as a beacon of economic prosperity and innovation in Guangzhou, South China's Guangdong province, showcasing a vibrant and diverse business landscape that continues to thrive and expand.

Spanning a planned area of 20 square kilometers, it comprises a developed area of 12 sq km and 8 sq km of the ongoing development of Guangzhou International Financial City. The cultural, sports, and other public facilities in the Tianhe CBD account for 7.7 percent of the entire area, while green spaces and squares occupy 12.2 percent of the district.

In 2024, the Tianhe CBD achieved a GDP of 367.2 billion yuan ($50.8 billion), with a modern commercial ecosystem led by headquarters economy, supported by digital and building economies, and dominated by finance, modern trade, and high-end professional services.

The district has 126 headquarters enterprises and hosts approximately 20,000 digital service companies. With 124 commercial buildings covering a total floor area exceeding 14 million square meters, the occupancy rate is 91.3 percent. It has attracted 229 licensed financial institutions and gathered 70 accounting firms, 277 law firms, and 388 human resources service agencies.

With 2.4 million sq m of commercial area, the district hosts 1,014 large-scale trade enterprises, resulting in a total sales volume of nearly 1 trillion yuan in 2024.
