Tianhe takes multiple measures to boost consumption
To stabilize and promote overall economic development, Tianhe district in Guangzhou, South China's Guangdong province, has taken multiple measures to boost consumption, focusing on areas such as wholesale and retail, accommodation and catering, and the development of urban consumption industries.
A special task force for high-quality development has been established in the wholesale and retail sector, along with the Tianhe District Bulk Commodity Supply Chain Alliance. By utilizing targeted policies for high-quality development, the district has seen the establishment of 265,280 wholesale and retail enterprises by the end of 2024.
In the accommodation and catering industry, efforts have been concentrated on attracting top-tier dining establishments to the district, resulting in nearly 1,400 international gourmet restaurants and half of the city's Michelin-starred restaurants. As of 2024, the area has 6,421 accommodation and catering enterprises.
The construction of a world-class landmark commercial district has been expedited, with developments such as the Tianhe Road-Zhujiang New Town commercial district expansion and enhancement and the rapid growth of the Guangzhou International Financial City commercial district.
Over the past three years, the government has issued consumer vouchers for key categories such as automobiles, dining, department stores, home furnishings, and appliances. By organizing branded promotional activities and promoting consumption upgrades, Tianhe district drives the integrated development of culture, commerce, tourism, and sports.
