Guangzhou-Foshan rail accelerates progress
The track-laying for the east loop of the Guangzhou-Foshan Intercity Railway was finalized on Jan 6 with the precise installation of the last steel rail at Dayuan Railway Station.
Following the entire track laying, the east loop project will expedite the seamless welding of rails and precise track adjustment, initiating a comprehensive static acceptance inspection to prepare for joint debugging, joint testing, and trial operation. The aim is to finalize the construction and operations prior to the commencement of the 15th National Games, which is set to be jointly hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao in November 2025.

The east loop of the Guangzhou-Foshan Intercity Railway starts from the Panyu Railway Station, heading north through Panyu, Huangpu, Haizhu, Tianhe, and Baiyun districts of Guangzhou, and connecting to the Xintang-Baiyun Airport-Guangzhou North Railway Station Intercity Railway at the Zhuliao Railway Station.
The mainline is approximately 46.54 kilometers long, designed for a speed of 160 km per hour, with eight stations along the route.
As a vital component of the intercity railway network in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the east loop links key hubs such as Guangzhou South Railway Station and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport.
Once operational, it will significantly enhance the collaborative competitiveness of Guangzhou and Foshan, driving forward the high-quality development of the Greater Bay Area.
