The 2023 list of featured cases for carbon reduction and pollution control in Guangdong province was recently released, with the Liede Water Purification Plant there making it onto the list.

The Liede Water Purification Plant, located in Tianhe district was the only water service enterprise among the six non-industrial businesses that were selected.

The plant was established in November 2017 on the basis of the Liede Sewage Treatment Plant that was built in the district in 1999.

It primarily handles the collection and treatment of domestic sewage from the downtown region north of the Pearl River, serving about 2.54 million people. It boasts a designed processing capacity of 1.2 million metric tons per day.

Intelligent dosing control systems, precise control systems for full-process energy consumption analysis, and a monitoring and management system for tap water usage have been installed in the plant.

Moreover, intelligent inspection robots have been applied in the power distribution room to autonomously conduct 24-hour inspections, identify the status of equipment and instruments, and raise alarms in case of anomalies – thereby bolstering operational efficiency and safety.

In 2023, the plant achieved reductions in electricity consumption, tap water usage, and dosage levels of 1.52 percent, 43.56 percent, and 17.56 percent, respectively, compared with 2021.
