Tianhe dragon boat team triumphs in intl race
The Liede Dragon Boat Team from Guangzhou's Tianhe district met with great success at the International Dragon Boat Race of the second Perth Chung Wah Cultural Festival – held in Perth, the capital of Western Australia in Australia – clinching three gold medals and one silver.
Organized jointly by the Australian state's government and the local Chung Wah Association, the second Perth Chung Wah Cultural Festival – which took place from Nov 30 to Dec 8 – featured a wide range of activities.
These included the International Dragon Boat Race, the International Lion Dance High Pole Exhibition, dragon dance and Chinese kung fu performances, and more.
Organizers said that it not only served as a feast of culture but also stood as a significant platform for fostering cultural exchanges between China and Australia.

The International Dragon Boat Race attracted top teams from countries like Australia and Malaysia – as well as from Hong Kong, Guangdong province, and Fujian province. Hundreds of participants gathered to celebrate this traditional and competitive event.
The Liede Dragon Boat Team scooped up gold medals in the 20-person open category in the 200-meter straight race and 1,000-meter race, as well as in the 10-person open category in the 1,000-meter race. It also claimed silver in the 10-person open category in the 200-meter straight race.
"From preparation to the race itself, every step was a testament to the team's sweat and strength," declared the team's jubilant leader after the competition.
"Achieving such outstanding results at the race fills us with immense pride. It not only acknowledges our training efforts but also affirms the appeal of Chinese culture," the leader added.
