Showcasing Tianhe: Model urban area for Chinese modernization
Running in tandem with the 2024 Understanding China Conference (Guangzhou) on Dec 2-4, the Understanding Chinese-style Modernization Achievements Exhibitions showcased the strides taken by Tianhe district in establishing a model urban area for Chinese-style modernization.
Within the Tianhe exhibition area were three key sections – "Towards New Heights for High-Quality Development", "Towards Green and Beautiful for the Happiest District" and "Striving Towards 2035: This Is How Tianhe Does It".
Together, they illustrated the district's innovative practices and significant achievements in advancing Chinese-style modernization.

Guilherme Paladino, a Brazilian journalist from the China International News Exchange Center, visited the Tianhe exhibition area to gain a deeper understanding of China's modernization.
"Every country should develop based on its own culture and population characteristics, avoiding mere imitation of others," he said, highlighting that the Belt and Road Initiative was a prime example of fruitful cooperation.
Peter Helis, an expat who has been living in China for nearly 20 years, praised Guangzhou's rich heritage and its ascent to the forefront of the post-reforms and opening up of Chinese cities.

He praised Guangzhou's strides – citing the city's appeal for outdoor activities, delectable Cantonese cuisine, diverse international dining options, and the vibrant Liede International Neighborhood in Tianhe.
During his visit to the Tianhe exhibition area, Jie Yuan, director of the New Productivity Promotion Committee of the China Hi-Tech Industry Promotion Society, took note of the district's efforts in establishing the South China National Botanical Garden-Huolu Mountain City Park Integration Demonstration Area and its biopharmaceutical industry.
Jie emphasized the potential for integrating the biopharma and healthcare industries with digital technologies to foster a balanced and healthy urban environment.
