Intl fashion feast kicks off in Tianhe

The 2024 China (Guangzhou) International Fashion Industry Conference, or 2024 CGIFIC opened in style on Nov 28 at the Guangzhou Opera House – in Tianhe district of Guangzhou – ushering in a grand fashion extravaganza.

Themed "Fashion Capital, First-Launch in Guangzhou", the four-day CGIFIC featured events like Industry Night Talks, Guangzhou Fashion Night, an awards ceremony, and the 2024 CIMC China (Guangzhou) International Model Competition Grand Finale.

Nearly 70 brands and organizations – including BAMPO, DY1765, NONHUMAN, and Design Valley – made debuts and held their premieres and exhibitions during the glittering fashion event.

During the opening ceremony, Guangzhou introduced the "First-Launch in Guangzhou" brand and its First-Launch Space Guide.

The Guangzhou First-Launch Space Guide selected 32 spaces for debuting events – including the Canton Tower, the Haixinsha Asian Games Park, and the Guangzhou Opera House. It offers locations for fashion brands and designers to establish their presence, enhance their brand image, and boost their brand visibility.

Meanwhile, the 2024 Guangzhou Fashion Consumption Excellence List recognized the top 10 brands in the apparel, leather goods, beauty and personal care, lighting and audio, jewelry, and customized home industries.

This was based on their product innovation, market competitiveness, brand influence, and cultural communications capabilities.

Finally, Professor Jin Hui from the College of Arts at South China Agricultural University joined hands with the original Chinese brand Kimzy Design to present its new "Fragrance" collection.

This features Xinhui Chenpi as the core fragrance, infusing the gambiered Guangdong gauze with olfactory charm.

To date, Guangzhou has developed fashion industry clusters in textiles and apparel, leather goods and bags, beauty and personal care, jewelry, lighting and audio, and customized home industries, with over 60,000 related enterprises.

Some 80 percent of high-end men's clothing brands nationwide and one-third of licensed cosmetics companies originate from Guangzhou.

The city's jewelry processing accounts for 30 percent of global market share and the annual output value of customized home enterprises is estimated to top 100 billion yuan ($13.76 billion).
