The Fudan version of the 2023 China Hospital Comprehensive Ranking and the 2023 China Hospital Specialty Reputation Ranking were released in Shanghai on Nov 16 – and a trio of hospitals in Tianhe district of Guangzhou city grabbed some of the limelight.

A total of 100 hospitals across the country entered the 2023 China Hospital Comprehensive Ranking, while the top 10 hospitals for 45 specialties were selected in the 2023 China Hospital Specialty Reputation Ranking.

The rankings are a public welfare project carried out by the Hospital Management Institute of Fudan University as an independent third party. In fact, it's the 15th consecutive year that the rankings have been released.

Instead of ranking first to 100th, this year's 100 hospitals on the China Hospital Comprehensive Ranking were divided into five grades: A++++, A+++, A++, A+ and A, with 20 hospitals in each grade. The A++++ rating is the highest grade.

A total of 10 hospitals in Guangzhou 'made the list of the 2023 China Hospital Comprehensive Ranking, with three located in Tianhe district.

The Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University was awarded an A++ grade, while the Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center and the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center of Sun Yat-sen University received A+ grades.

Meanwhile, the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center of Sun Yat-sen University ranked first nationwide in the ophthalmology category for 15 consecutive years, while the Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center secured fifth place in the pediatric surgery category.
