Overseas Chinese leaders gather in Guangzhou
Overseas Chinese leaders from 30 countries and regions gathered on Nov 6 at the Guangzhou International Exchange and Cooperation Center – located in Tianhe district of Guangzhou.
They were there to participate in an event widely seen as empowering the construction of Guangzhou as a hub for overseas Chinese.
Chen Jie, deputy director of the Social Research Institute of the Guangzhou Academy of Social Sciences, shared his insights on the construction of the city as such a magnet of influence and activity.
He called on Guangzhou to establish dynamic platforms for resource circulation and sharing, facilitate deep exchanges between talent domestically and abroad – and boost communications for a mutually beneficial interaction and integration between Guangzhou and global talent.

Tianhe district – situated in the heart of Guangzhou – serves as the headquarters center, financial center, science and technology center, high-end services center and international communications center of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
But it also holds unparalleled advantages for attracting funds, industries and talent through the CBD effect.
Wang Haiying, deputy director of the Tianhe investment promotions center, was bullish about its future.
"We hope to welcome entrepreneurs from the overseas Chinese community to join the Tianhe Going Global Alliance, serve enterprises in Tianhe, accelerate the global business layout and we are cordially inviting entrepreneurs to visit Tianhe for investment opportunities," Wang said.
During the event's exchange session, Hong Lixin, deputy director of the Hungarian Export Promotion Agency in Guangzhou; Yu Tianzuo, project director of the China-Latin America and Caribbean Technology Transfer Center and Long Hao, secretary-general of the Canton Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand, also shared their positive views about the city and its region.
