Tianhe forum attracts world scientists
The 2024 World Laureates Greater Bay Area Forum was convened on Oct 29 at landmark residential and mixed-use complex One Pengrui – located in Tianhe district of Guangzhou.
It attracted scientific luminaries including Nobel Prize laureates, as well as leading international thinkers under its theme of "Journey with the World".
Jointly hosted by the Parkland Foundation and the Shanghai World Top Scientists Development Foundation, the forum sought to amplify Guangzhou's role as a dynamic center for science and technology in the wider Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The event was highlighted by talks given by three Nobel Prize winners, each sharing insights into their research and presenting their achievements.
Andre Geim, winner of the 2010 Nobel Prize in Physics, shared his views on graphene's characteristics, applications and future prospects.
Arieh Warshel, recipient of the 2013 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, discussed his contributions to the detailed calculation of biological molecules' functional properties by introducing computational methods for biological molecular structures.
Nobel Prize winner in Physics in 2016 J. Michael Kosterlitz introduced the concept of topology to describe the phase and phase transitions of materials.
He made outstanding contributions to understanding low-temperature superconductivity phenomena, ideas which were presented during the forum.
