Tianhe district of Guangzhou – the capital of South China's Guangdong province – recently announced a raft of innovative new recruitment policies.

In so doing, it unveiled a series of measures aimed at providing stronger support to a wide variety of talents. The period to apply for the financial support has opened and runs to Nov 10.

In a bid to foster innovation, top-tier talents that are newly introduced to the district can receive a total of up to 10 million yuan ($1.41 million) in support funding.

Companies establishing academician workstations can benefit from a maximum of 1 million yuan in station-building funds.

Meanwhile, those selected as members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences or the Chinese Academy of Engineering – or participants in major national talent projects – will be entitled to individual support of up to 1 million yuan.

Leaders of key enterprises in priority industry sectors and innovative companies in strategic emerging industries within the district are set to receive financial support of up to 1 million yuan and 500,000 yuan per person, respectively.

Key personnel in the foundational education and healthcare sectors – that are being newly integrated into district public institutions – can access a maximum of 1.5 million yuan in financial backing.

Overall, the round of key talent incentive policies categorizes supported talents into four groups – A, B, C, and D – based on their capabilities and policy support levels.

Seven service support measures are provided accordingly – including residential apartments, green cards, as well as support for children's education and healthcare, as well as free access to five major scientific research venues.
