Guangzhou arts festival sets spotlight on nature
The Guangzhou Outdoor Arts Festival 2024 opened with a bang on Sept 29 at the Canton Place in Tianhe district and is scheduled to run through Oct 27, covering the upcoming weeklong National Day holiday that starts on Oct 1.
With the tagline "Full of Greenery, Art without Boundaries", this year's festival aims to integrate art into urban public space through diversified art forms, harmonize art with the natural and human environment, and allow everyone to feel the charm of music, culture, and art up close.
The festival will break away from traditional stage performances and adopt an open design to create a comfortable environment where people are fully integrated with nature and their surroundings.
It will also greatly reduce the use of stage lighting so that the audience can cultivate environmental awareness and responsibility while getting close to nature.
This year's festival will bring together a variety of musical performances, including a symphony, jazz, classical music, a ballad, and pop music.
