A rural basketball tournament kicked off between Guangzhou's Tianhe district and Zhaoqing's Guangning county during Zhaoqing's annual celebration of the Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival on Sept 22.

Jointly organized by the two sides, the competition is aimed at strengthening cultural and sports exchanges and cooperation, enriching the cultural lives of villagers in the two regions, and promoting the high-quality development of "100 counties, 1,000 towns, and 10,000 villages" development projects through a so-called "sports +" model.

The first match was between Tianhe's Shadong Reconstructed Company team and Guangning's Kengkou town team.
