The Sixth Design and Research Institute of China National Machinery Industry Corporation (Sinomach) on Sept 20 opened a branch in Guangzhou – the capital of South China's Guangdong province – with the opening ceremony taking place in the city's Tianhe district.

The institute is the country's first factory design institution and mechanical industry design institute.

It is widely said to have evolved into a first-rate design research institute with a well-developed business chain – including planning and consultations, engineering designs, project supervision and engineering contracting.

"The establishment of the Guangzhou branch is not only a new development and layout for the institute, but is also a new driving force for the modern urban industrial development in Tianhe," a district official said at the opening ceremony.

For his part, the leader of the Guangzhou branch said that it would focus on the Guangdong regional market – aiming to serve the development of new industrialization and strategic emerging industries in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The new branch plans to leverage its technical expertise in intelligent factory designs and system integrations, green intelligent manufacturing, digital twinning and building information modeling (BIM) applications.

In so doing, it's expected to become a benchmarking enterprise in the field of green and intelligent industrial parks and factory services in the Greater Bay Area.
