Registration opens for Guangzhou Marathon
Registration is now open for this year's Guangzhou Marathon, which is scheduled to take place on Dec 8 and is set to end at 5 pm on Sept 19.
Featuring a full marathon (42.2 kilometers), the race will start at the Tianhe Sports Center in Guangzhou's Tianhe district, and end at Haixinsha Asian Games Park.
It is expected to receive a total of 26,000 participants this year. Participants, who must be 20 years of age or older (born on or before Dec 31, 2004), can register on the official website of the Guangzhou Marathon or through the Malamala (马拉马拉) or Shuzixindong (数字心动) apps.

Participants must also provide proof of completion of a full or half marathon between Jan 1, 2022, and Sept 9, 2024. Online marathon results are not valid.
The registration fee for each applicant is 160 yuan ($21.9).
If the number of applicants exceeds the quota set for the race, the final participants are set to be determined by drawing lots, and the results are to be announced in mid-October. If there are remaining places after the payment for the first round of the draw, the second round will be conducted.
Three hundred public welfare quotas are poised to be open for applicants who sign up for the race but fail to get a seat after two rounds of draw, which can be gotten on the race's official website on a first-come, first-served basis.
