New school in Tianhe shines in science
The Tianhe Intelligence Valley campus of Guangzhou Olympic Secondary School opened its doors for business on Sept 10 – the same day as the 40th Teachers' Day in China.
The school in Tianhe district of Guangzhou – the capital of South China's Guangdong province –is on a 2.06-hectare site, with the buildings occupying a floor space of 39,000 square meters.
It's designed to accommodate 45 classes – 30 allocated for the primary school and 15 for the middle school – with a total student capacity of 2,100. Seven classes for the primary school and 20 classes for the first-year middle school have opened for the fall semester of 2024, serving 1,186 students.
The new school focuses on creating featured "sciences +" courses and cultivating students' scientific literacy and practical abilities.
Learning spaces like subject laboratories, computer rooms, and a creative mind center have been built on campus. That's as well as scientific inquiry laboratories at different levels for artificial intelligence, drones, 3D printing, and biological tissue culture studies.
