At a recent conference in Guangzhou's Tianhe district, the "one core, one belt, and two axes" development pattern was first proposed.

In the development pattern, the "one core" refers to a green Tianhe built based on the South China National Botanical Garden and the Huolu Mountain Forest Park. The phrase "one belt" refers to building a high-quality development belt along the Pearl River with the construction of the Guangzhou International Financial City serving as a focal point.

The "two axes" are to optimize and upgrade the Tianhe section of Guangzhou's new central axis and boost the construction of the vital innovation axis' Tianhe section.

It was also announced at the conference that the district will be transformed into a modern district of Chinese modernization by 2035, doubling the economic aggregate.

Tianhe's regional GDP reached 655.13 billion yuan ($91.24 billion) in 2023, representing a 5.1 percent year-on-year increase.

Toward 2035, the district will prioritize the development of seven key areas, namely the Tianhe Central Business District, the Guangzhou International Financial City, the Tianhe Smart City, the Tianhe Intelligence Valley, the Wushan-encircled innovation source area, the Shahe area, and the Longdong-Fenghuang area, with the goal of achieving resource complementarity and industry interaction.
