Vocational skills competition to kick off in Tianhe
The 2024 Tianhe District Vocational Skills Competition is scheduled to take place later in July and in August in the district of Guangzhou – the capital of South China's Guangdong province – to promote the upgrading of vocational skills and the inheriting of craftsmanship spirit.
This year's competition will feature seven diverse groups – of tea art specialists, tea tasters, beverage blenders, babysitters, health carers, business enterprise human resource managers, and internet marketers.
For the first time, the district-level intangible cultural heritage item, the Guangzhou Tea Art (Tianhe), will be introduced in the competition.

One first prize, two second prizes, and three third prizes will be offered in each group, with awards ranging from 10,000 yuan ($1,375) to 50,000 yuan. Eligible participants will be accorded a vocational skills level (Level 3) certificate.
Participants who win first prize in the competition categories that number 20 to 59 people or first and second prizes in the competition categories with over 60 people will be given the title Guangzhou Technical Expert.
