New expressway linking Zengcheng, Tianhe advances
In Guangzhou, the capital of South China's Guangdong province, the recent breakthrough to open air of the Changlingju Tunnel's left side at section SG04 of the Zengcheng-Tianhe Expressway signaled major progress in the project.
A key infrastructure undertaking in Guangzhou, the expressway will stretch 38.4 kilometers in total – starting from Zhucun neighborhood in Zengcheng district, passing through Huangpu and Tianhe districts, and ending at Taihe town in Baiyun district.
Section SG04 of the expressway is about 5.1 km long, with the Changlingju Tunnel a key excavation project. The tunnel features six lanes in either direction and stretches more than 1,900 meters.

Construction of the expressway started in July 2022 and completion is scheduled for December 2025. After it becomes operational, the travel time between Zengcheng and Tianhe will be cut to about 30 minutes.
