Tianhe works on building gourmet cluster area
Guangzhou's Tianhe district has formulated a work plan for its building of the Zhujiang New Town's southeast core area into a Chinese-Western gourmet cluster area with international standards and local characteristics.
This was announced by Yuan Xiaoyi, the district's deputy head, at a May 14 press conference themed on Guangzhou's cultivation of three Chinese-Western gourmet cluster areas.

Tianhe's work plan includes a total of 32 key work items and task lists, Yuan said.
The district plans to build a brand centered on the Zhujiang New Town's southeast core area, making full use of the area's delicacies and cultural stories. It'll interact with commercial carriers, well-known platforms, financial institutions, travel agencies, time-honored restaurants, and retail brands in the area to carry out various forms of cultural, business and travel-themed promotional activities.
It will make good use of the offline gathering area for live streaming services to do online marketing for renowned brand businesses in the core area, according to Yuan.
Also, construction will be advanced on public infrastructure like smart zebra crossings, characteristic landscapes, and Chinese and English logos and signs. Measures will be launched to further facilitate mobile payments for inbound visitors.

The Zhujiang New Town's southeast core area covers an area of about 2.24 square kilometers. It now has 917 catering businesses. Its business volume totaled nearly 5 billion yuan ($692.18 million) in 2023, accounting for about 20 percent of Tianhe's total.
The number of high-end restaurants in the area ranks first in Guangzhou, with 16 Michelin-starred restaurants and six eateries receiving a diamond rating in the Black Pearl Restaurant Guide.
