A total of 25 venues have been confirmed in Guangzhou for the 15th National Games, 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and 9th National Special Olympics Games, which will be jointly hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in 2025.

The news was announced by Tang Yixing, executive deputy director of the venue and information department of the executive committee for the events, at a press conference on March 20 in Guangzhou.

The Guangdong Olympic Sports Center and the Tianhe Sports Center in Tianhe district are included on the list and are scheduled to be renovated for the events.

According to Tang, the renovated venues will reflect cultural elements of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The Guangdong Olympic Sports Center will be ocean blue in color and be adorned with light projections and hanging ribbons under its rooftop to represent the "new era".

The Tianhe Sports Center will be fitted with a 700-meter circular runway on its second-floor platform while retaining the original structure.

Green and low-carbon concepts will be applied as well, Tang said. The Guangdong Olympic Sports Center will be equipped with shoulder eaves to avoid sunburn, solar photovoltaic panels, and green vines to form a green corridor.

The Tianhe Sports Center will apply technologies like digital twins to build an integrated intelligent operation management platform capable of highly accurate seat navigation.
