The list of academicians newly elected to the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering was recently launched, of whom two are from Guangzhou's Tianhe district.

They are He Hongping, director of the CAS Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry, and Han Enhou, director of the Guangdong Institute of Corrosion Science and Technology, as well as a professor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering of the South China University of Technology.

He is mainly engaged in mineralogy research and has achieved systematic innovations in the fields of mineral surface interaction, mineral growth theory, and mineral resource utilization.

Han has devoted considerable attention to the research and application of corrosion mechanisms, corrosion-resistant materials, and corrosion control technologies. The organization has successfully developed a variety of corrosion control and safety assessment technologies, which have found practical applications in diverse sectors such as nuclear power, aircraft, pipelines, power grids, ships, automobiles, and aerospace.
