The top 10 livelihood projects of Guangzhou's Tianhe district in 2024 were determined by vote at the fourth session of the 10th Tianhe District People's Congress on March 20.

This year, the district is scheduled to advance the construction of the Tianhe Smart City campus of Tianhe Foreign Language School and the second-phase expansion of the Fenghuang campus of Guangzhou Middle School. Two new public schools are also set to be built, increasing enrollment capacity by at least 3,600 students.

Service teams comprising psychological consultants, social workers, and volunteers will be formed to offer graded mental health services for adolescents, along with the "Secret Garden Mailbox" online adolescent service platform and 30 mailboxes on campuses.

Construction of the Sun Yat-sen University Medical Oncology Scientific Center and the Zhuji branch of the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University will be promoted to balance the distribution of medical resources in the district.

In addtion, Tianhe plans to add more than 200 nursing beds for patients with cognitive disorders in the district's elderly care institutions in 2024.

It will also renovate three new-type garbage transfer demonstration stations and strengthen the comprehensive environmental sanitation management of garbage collection stations around 10 residential areas.

Renovation is set to be conducted on shared water facilities for 3,100 households in old residential areas.

Free screening for genetic metabolic diseases and hearing will be provided for about 20,000 newborns born in the district's midwifery institutions, and additional free screening for retinopathy for premature infants will be offered.

Moreover, the district is scheduled to organize over 100 public-benefit job fairs, offer vocational skills training to over 8,000 people, and hold over 20 entrepreneurship guidance activities in campuses and bases this year.

It will complete more than 2,200 food sampling inspections throughout the year, carry out rapid testing of over 250,000 batches of edible agricultural products in markets, and conduct no less than 1,500 inspections on pharmaceutical production and distribution enterprises and medical institutions.

Two new-type public cultural spaces are set to be built this year, and no less than 1,000 online and in-person cultural activities and public-welfare training sessions will be carried out throughout the year.
