Tianhe to advance construction of 165 key projects this year
Guangzhou's Tianhe district will advance the construction of 165 district-level key projects with a total investment of 666.5 billion yuan ($92.59 billion) this year.
It was announced by Zou Xueren, director of the district's development and reform commission, at the Tianhe High-quality Development Conference on Feb 20.
Zou added that efforts would be specially put into the construction of 34 infrastructure projects, like the renovation of the Guangzhou East Railway Station, and 32 people's livelihood projects, like the Sun Yat-sen University Medical Oncology Scientific Center.

In 2024, the Tianhe Smart City will accelerate the development of a modern industrial system supported by the real economy, said Xu Wenjin, director of the management committee of Tianhe Science Park, at the conference.
It is set to achieve over 140 billion yuan in revenue, increasing by 10 percent year-on-year, and schedules to newly negotiate 130 projects and contract 50 projects, with the contracted investment amount to exceed 20 billion yuan.
According to Song Aiping, director of the Tianhe bureau of industry and information technology, Tianhe will promote the development of the "AI big model + business" and "AI big model + medical treatment" industries, providing new growth drivers for the district's software industry, which is poised to achieve a 6 percent growth in its operation revenue this year.

As noted by Song, efforts will also be made to promote the transformation and upgrading of industrial parks involved in the urban industry, intelligent manufacturing, and life health to boost the district's industrial development. In 2024, the output value of the district's industrial enterprises above the designated size is planned to increase by 12 percent.
The district's commercial and financial bureau will focus on introducing licensed financial institutions this year, contributing to Tianhe's building into a financial cooperation demonstration zone in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, said Wang He, the bureau's director, at the conference.
In 2024, Tianhe is set to realize 140 billion yuan of added value in its financial industry, and the number of licensed financial institutions in the district will amount to some 300.
