Tianhe's GDP exceeds 655b yuan in 2023
Guangzhou's Tianhe district realized 655.13 billion yuan ($91.24 billion) in its regional GDP in 2023, with a year-on-year growth rate of 5.1 percent.
The added value of Tianhe's primary industry was 277 million yuan, increasing by 27.6 percent. In comparison, its secondary industry was 47.05 billion yuan, up 8 percent, and its tertiary industry was 607.8 billion yuan, up 4.8 percent.
Last year, the added value of Tianhe's modern service industry reached 467.29 billion yuan, up by 4.7 percent and accounting for 71.3 percent of the district's GDP. Of them, the added value of the financial industry grew by 7.9 percent.
The strategic emerging industries in the district realized 189.85 billion yuan in added value, increasing by 3.7 percent. It comprised 29 percent of the district's GDP, an increase of 0.4 percentage points year-on-year.

Tianhe finished 2023 with 215.28 billion yuan in total retail sales of consumer goods, a year-on-year increase of 6.2 percent, while the revenue of culture, sports, and entertainment enterprises above the designated size saw an increase of 69.8 percent.
The 145 district-level key construction projects completed a total investment of 53.68 billion yuan, 18.89 percent more than the district's annual target. The fixed-asset investment exceeded 70 billion yuan, rising by 20 percent.
The Tianhe central business district, a national digital service export base, realized $2.05 billion in digital service exports in 2023, an increase of 14.8 percent year over year.
Ten projects, including the Guangzhou branch of Macao-based Luso International Banking, started construction at the Guangzhou International Financial City, while 10 other projects were capped. The newly added industrial area in the financial city reached some 1 million square meters.
The Tianhe Smart City introduced 33 projects with over 100 million yuan of investment last year.
In 2023, 100,600 enterprises were newly established in Tianhe, an increase of 21.9 percent and accounting for 27.3 percent of Guangzhou's total. 1,279 enterprises above the designated size were cultivated, making up 20.6 percent of the city's total.
Two Tianhe enterprises were listed last year, while 12 projects invested in by Global Fortune 500 companies were newly introduced to the district, as well as 10 headquarters enterprises.
