Flower market adds to Tianhe's festive vibes

The Tianhe Spring Festival Flower Market opened at the Tianhe Sports Center at 8:30 am on Feb 4 and will run through 2 am on Feb 10, adding to the district's strong festive vibes.

A total of 404 booths have been set up, including 362 booths for flowers and special-themed products for the Spring Festival, 28 public welfare booths for intangible cultural heritage items and poverty alleviation products, and 14 flower shows.

Furthermore, the South China National Botanical Garden is making its inaugural appearance at this year's flower market. They are presenting a collection of 15 rare plants that are adorned with exquisite displays of peach blossoms, orchids, camellia, roses, and New Year tangerines. Spanning an expansive exhibition space exceeding 10,000 square meters, this showcase promises to be a highlight of the event.

Six stunning shows will also be presented during the six-day flower market, bringing visitors folk performances like dragon and lion dances, Cantonese Opera, acrobatics, martial arts, and Cantonese music.

At the intangible cultural heritage stalls, visitors can try olive carving, and Canton porcelain bookmark making for the Year of the Dragon and join in interactive activities such as wearing Cantonese embroidery clothes.

"The flower market best reflects the Chinese New Year flavor in Guangzhou. Today, I brought my two daughters here, feeling the festive atmosphere," said a lady named Zhu.
