New Tianhe cultural space opens to public

Qingheli, a new type of public cultural space, recently opened to the public in the Liede neighborhood of Tianhe district, Guangzhou.

The cultural space was renovated from old buildings. It now covers an internal floor area of some 800 square meters and an outdoor area of 3,000 sq m. It plans to host a range of artistic activities, such as exhibitions, academic discussions, and art performances in collaboration with universities and art groups.

The exhibition, showcasing the works of youth artists Ke Jipeng, Xu Xianhong, and Sun Yu, opened on the same day at the cultural space and is set to last until March 31. The three express their philosophical thoughts, values, and ideals of life through traditional Chinese art forms such as ink painting, ceramics, and lacquer.

In recent years, Tianhe has been promoting the construction of public cultural facilities. So far, it has built one district-level central library, 21 branch libraries in neighborhoods, 34 branch libraries of social cooperation, and 29 service points at schools. The district's total area of public libraries covers about 50,000 sq m, an increase of 373 percent over 2016.
