More than 60 postgraduate and doctoral students from prestigious universities like Tsinghua University, the Harbin Institute of Technology, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the University of Macau on Jan 14-16 visited Guangzhou – capital of South China's Guangdong province.

It was part of an event called the "Postgraduate and doctoral students native of Hong Kong, Macao, Guangdong walk into the Greater Bay Area", which was organized by the Guangdong Provincial Talent Service Department, the Organization Department of the CPC Tianhe District Committee and the Tianhe bureau of human resources and social security.

It aimed to build a bridge for young folks to conduct exchanges, attract more talent with the innovation achievements of the Greater Bay Area and contribute to its high-quality development.

The first stop of students was Guangzhou's Tianhe district, where they visited top enterprises like XPeng Motors, PCITECH, the Guangzhou Radio Group, Zwsoft (Guangzhou) and the Guangzhou AI Public Computing Center.

Lu Ch'u-hao, who is from Hong Kong and is studying a master's degree at Peking University, showed great interest in visiting XPeng Motors and the Guangzhou AI Public Computing Center.

"I am studying cartography and geographic information systems, with laser point cloud technology widely used in the auto industry," said Lu – adding that he hoped to work and live in the Greater Bay Area and that was why he signed up for the event.

Other participants were equally impressed.

"The Greater Bay Area, with its rich innovative resources and cutting-edge technology industries, is full of vitality and innovative spirits. It is the first choice for my career development," said Wu Huaxiao, a doctoral student at Tsinghua University.

Wu said the Greater Bay Area would become one of the innovative centers in China and in the world and he hoped to make his own contribution to the area's future development.
