The Tianhe tax bureau has taken multiple measures to help with enterprises' research and development, promoting rural vitalization.

The Tianhe Smart Agricultural Park is where the 22nd Guangdong Seed Industry Conference occurred in December last year. It has the largest multi-functional greenhouse in Guangdong province, with various planting greenhouses and equipment.

"The tax bureau has been supporting our development. It paid visits to understand our production and operation situations and initiatively sent its guidance on preferential tax policies," said Yang Rong, finance chief at Guangzhou Jiaoyang Agriculture, which operates the Tianhe Smart Agricultural Park.

Yang added that the bureau also sorted out the information of the participating enterprises in advance before the conference and arranged special personnel to solve relevant problems.

The Tianhe tax bureau has implemented preferential tax policies like additional tax deductions for research and development expenses in the modern seed and green agriculture industries.

"The research and development of modern agriculture is characterized by high technical difficulty and long period, so it requires high funds from enterprises," said Qiu Jie, finance chief at Guangzhou Weifeng Biotechnology.

"Fortunately, the Tianhe tax bureau offers preferential tax policies, greatly reducing our financial pressure," Qiu added. The company enjoyed 1.17 million yuan ($163,954.87) in tax reduction and exemption in 2023.

Besides, the bureau has been cooperating with departments like agriculture and rural affairs, rural vitalization, market supervision, science and technology, and social assurance to boost the modern urban agriculture industry's development further.

According to Chen Peixia, the Guangzhou Jiaqing Agriculture Technology legal representative, the company's 20-year development couldn't have been done without the Tianhe tax bureau's support.

"They have been taking the initiative to provide us with tax services like tax handling and invoice application. It is also very convenient to handle various tax-related matters through the V-Tax, an online tax-handling platform," Chen said.
