An exhibition that is displaying more than 100 paintings and calligraphy works by students from around Guangdong province kicked off at the Tianhe Cultural Center on Dec 16.

The works on display were selected through a competition that kicked off in October, which attracted over 800 students from the cities of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Huizhou, Shantou, and Dongguan to participate.

The works on display vary in range, said Chen Jiajing, vice chairman of the Guangdong Painter-Calligrapher Association, including traditional Chinese paintings, cartoons, gouache paintings, and sketches.
