The 22nd Guangdong Seed Industry Conference kicked off in Guangzhou on Dec 12, along with the launch of a seed trading center, one of Guangdong's "100 counties, 1,000 towns, and 10,000 villages" development projects.

This year's conference was jointly hosted by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Tianhe district government. It innovatively applied the "1+N" model, with the main venue in Guangzhou and 16 sub-venues across 14 cities in the province.

Nine themed exhibitions were set up to display the latest achievements in Guangdong's seed industry, including the pig breeding innovative achievement exhibition and the modern agricultural machinery and equipment exhibition.

More than 1,000 domestic and foreign seed firms and over 300 R&D institutions brought over 5,000 seed varieties to this year's event. They include Syngenta Group, Bayer, Luheng Technology Group, as well as Guangdong Helinong Biological Seed Industry.

The conference had over 20,000 attendees, including Liu Yaoguang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; and Fu Tingdong and Luo Xiwen, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. These esteemed guests discussed the high-quality development of the local seed industry.

Jiang Xiexin, vice president and secretary general of the China Seed Association, said that this conference is a platform for seed variety exhibition, technology promotion, achievement exhibition, and project cooperation opportunities.
