The tunneling process for the Guangzhou International Financial City Station-Tianhe Smart City Station section, which is an important part of the east loop of the Guangzhou-Foshan Intercity Rail, was recently completed.

The east loop of the Guangzhou-Foshan Intercity Rail will start from the Guangzhou South Railway Station in Guangzhou's Panyu district, run through Guangzhou's Huangpu, Haizhu, and Tianhe districts, and will end at Zhuliao Station in Guangzhou's Baiyun district.

It will be 46.7 kilometers in length, and have eight stations, including three in Tianhe, namely Guangzhou International Financial City Station, Tianhe Smart City Station, and Longdong Station.

So far, about 93 percent of the civil engineering works on the east loop of the Guangzhou-Foshan Intercity Rail have been finished, and eight stations have completed construction on their main structures.

After the Guangzhou-Foshan Intercity Rail is completed, it will be just half an hour to get from Guangzhou South Railway Station to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, and 10 minutes from the Tianhe central business district (CBD) to Guangzhou South Railway Station.
