Tianhe's GDP exceeds $66.27b in Q1-Q3

The regional GDP of Tianhe district in Guangzhou saw a year-on-year growth of 5 percent in the first three quarters of this year, and now sits at 484.79 billion yuan ($66.27 billion).

The added value of Tianhe's primary industry was 204 million yuan, increasing by 30.5 percent, while that of its secondary industry was 32.7 billion yuan, up 6.8 percent, and that of its tertiary industry was 451.89 billion yuan, up 4.8 percent.

From January to September, the added value of Tianhe's modern service industry reached 358.05 billion yuan, up by 4.7 percent. It accounted for 73.9 percent of the district's GDP, which is an increase of 0.8 percentage points year-on-year.

The added value of the financial sector increased by 8.1 percent during the period, while that of the real estate industry saw a 5-percent increase. Strategic emerging industries such as biomedicine and healthcare enjoyed a 4-percent growth in their added value. The operating income of the for-profit service enterprises above the designated size – those with annual revenue of at least 20 million yuan – rose by 4.2 percent.

Tianhe realized 160.53 billion yuan in total retail sales of consumer goods from January to September, a year-on-year increase of 5.2 percent, while the revenue of culture, sports and entertainment enterprises above the designated size saw an increase of 54.1 percent.

Moreover, its 92 city-level key projects exceed the annual target by 15 percent, driving the district's fixed-asset investment up by 19 percent. Seven key projects started construction at the Guangzhou International Financial City and six were capped, while construction began on two key projects at the Tianhe Smart City and finished on three key ones.

In the first three quarters of this year, there were 76,000 new enterprises in Tianhe, increasing by 27 percent year-on-year and making up for 26.8 percent of Guangzhou's total.

The district was home to 271 enterprises above the designated size during the period and introduced six projects invested in by Global Fortune 500 companies like BMW and Gelin Dahua Futures.
