Guangzhou's Tianhe district was awarded the "two-star safety tripod" at the Safe Guangdong Construction Working Conference held in Guangzhou on Sept 25, becoming the only county-level city or district in Guangdong province to win the honor.

The "safety tripod" is given to prefecture-level cities, county-level cities or districts that are rated "excellent" for three consecutive years in the assessment of the safe Guangdong construction. A star will be added if an "excellent" rating is received in the assessment for another three consecutive years.

"This honor comes with serious responsibility," said Chen Jiameng, the district's Party secretary. "At this new starting point, Tianhe will make continuous efforts to improve the modernization of its social governance system, accelerate the construction of a safer Tianhe, and offer better services to ensure high-quality development."

Guangzhou was one of two prefecture-level cities in Guangdong to win the "one-star safety tripod" at the conference.
