Guangzhou's Tianhe district has been devoted to improving its rail transit system, as construction on key projects like the Guangzhou International Financial City is underway.

Construction on the cross passage between the Pazhou Station in Guangzhou's Haizhu district and Tianhe's Financial City Station along the east loop of the Guangzhou-Foshan Intercity Rail was recently completed.

The civil engineering work of the northern extension line of the Guangzhou Metro Line 18, also known as the Guangzhou East Railway Station-Huadu Tiangui Intercity Rail, was 11 percent completed as of the end of July. All seven stations along the railway have started civil construction, and three shield-tunneling machines are being used to construct the line.

The Guangzhou Metro Line 37 is scheduled to start from the Guangzhou East Railway Station in Tianhe and end at Shaoguan's Liangkou town, with a total length of 85.6 kilometers.
