Timely tax measures help Tianhe's small enterprises
The Tianhe tax bureau - located in the Tianhe district of Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong province - has lately been optimizing its services and acting to improve things.
It has been implementing all kinds of preferential tax policies to help with the development of its more than 234,000 small and micro enterprises and 72,000 individual businesses.
In August, a new policy of halving the individual income tax of individual businesses was introduced, which can be applied to the part of the annual taxable income that doesn't exceed 2 million yuan ($274,059).
The calculation start date of the new policy is Jan 1, 2023 and for the overpaid tax before the introduction of the policy, taxpayers can choose to get a tax credit or have a refund.
There are 6,495 individual businesses in Tianhe now benefiting from the policy and they enjoyed a total tax deduction of 8.14 million yuan in the first half of the year.

Through big data analysis, the Tianhe tax bureau also gave a timely reminder to qualifying companies who haven't fully enjoy the tax preferential policies during the declaration period.
"Our company has just been established and we didn't know much about the tax policies," said Zhang Mengchao, head of Tianhe Qiyuan Technical Consulting Service Department. "Thanks to the staff of the Tianhe tax bureau, we didn't miss out," Zhang said.
As a result, the company received a tax reduction of more than 2,000 yuan. "Although the amount is not very large, it is also a 'timely rain' for a small business that has just started," Zhang added.
