China Construction Fourth Engineering Division Corp will settle its new headquarters at Guangzhou International Financial City in Tianhe. The headquarters will be built into the nation's first near zero energy building that measures over 150 meters.
It will achieve near zero energy utilization through the design of cold alleys and solar chimneys. Renewable energy sources like solar photovoltaic power generation and air source heat pumps will also be used in the building.
During the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, Tianhe will continue to improve energy efficiency in key areas, while also integrating green and low-carbon concepts into all areas of urban development.
Clean energy, like nuclear power and hydropower, will account for nearly 60 percent of this district's electricity consumption, which will power green buildings in a 16-million-square-meter area.
Additionally, the energy consumption and carbon emissions per unit of GDP will be reduced to one fourth and one sixth of the national average, respectively.
